ElCap Report 10/24/07

 By Tom Evans

Yo... Well another great day here... perfect weather and it appears that it will be so for at least a week... where are you guys? The Cap is suddenly almost empty with hardly anyone on the popular routes.. Brought to you today from the cute little NZ woman whose fiancé is high on the Nose as I write these words...

Today’s ECR...

On the Waterfront... well the crew was lashed to the quarter deck today and the ropes removed from the Yards... aaaarrrrhhh. The swabbies lounged in quarters most of the day and were seen headed back to port early this afternoon after a leisurely time on the Cap... better luck next time lads!

Zodiac: Adam did the Black Tower pitch this morning and then holed up in the heat of the day... but he did switch to a nice red shirt today so that made shooting more fun for me... he will sleep just below the White circle... Lower down another solo has appeared and lead/hauled to the top of two this afternoon... My man, Gene, is still fondling equipment at the bridge and swears he will be upward bound tomorrow morning when Ivo arrives with a ledge for him... yep.... we shall see... El Nino... did see a crew of two guys around the 6th pitch of this route this morning but they holed up around noon in the heat.. who are they?

Nose: Saw a team of two go from the Eagle ledge up to the GR today and they encountered a team of three that I sort of remember from yesterday... I went down to the West side and caught a glimpse of the NZ boys on changing corners around 3pm so they are headed off tomorrow... above them was another team of three from yesterday who should be off tonight... Lower down the team of three who crawled to Dolt late in the afternoon bailed this morning... too bad as they had a woman with them with a nice power blue outfit/matching helmet... seems to be the color of the season for the ladies.

Shield: Watched the mixed team go off around noon... still wonder who they are...

Salathe appeared empty...

In other news, the rock is mostly empty now, even the Nose below the great roof... time is wasting and the weather is sparkling.... The cafe is empty in the morning too... so there are things to be done... Did get news this afternoon that the fire seems to have stopped moving so rapidly and my house might just make it undamaged this time... oh would that be nice!! Really appreciated the links you guys gave me to the Rim of the World report on the fires.. and your concern.... many thanks!!!

So that is the way it is on this the 24th day of October 2007...stay safe and enjoy....
