Yo… Cool and sunny continues to dominate the climbing scene here in the Valley.  Where the hell are all you Cubicle Pukes?  Throw off your shackles and come on out to the valley of your dreams… now or never!!  Not a ton of action on the Cap today but some good stuff is going on.

Yo… Crystal clear air, temperatures in the low 70’s, and a stout wind from the west, made for a perfect climbing day, assuming one likes to wear puffies all day!  Brad Gobright and Scott Bennett did a Triple on ElCap today.  They started around 2pm yesterday and did Zodiac in 5 hours and then they went to the Nose and were done with that by dawn. Then they went to Lurking Fear and did that, well within the 24 hour limit. They did a time of 23:10!  Great stuff guys!! Remember that the POTUS arrives tomorrow so all bets are off on me getting to the internet for the next two or three days.  I will try!

Yo… The weather is like April these days…windy, very cool, clear and sunny skies.  Kind of a slow day on the hill today.  The Presidents pre-visit people came today to see what has to be arranged.  Six choppers flew in this afternoon and landed in the Majestic Meadow (Ha!).  The POTUS will be here this weekend, if he isn’t here already. They don’t give out much information about POTUS visits.  We are expecting the worst in the traffic department so I may be able to do some reports but no guarantees!

Yo… Sunny and cool weather continues to draw climbers to the Cap.  Actually a little on the slow side, photographically, as the sun was bright and there were no clouds for most of the day.  The harsh sun, high in the sky, makes for long shadows and difficult lighting for this old shooter.

Yo.. A beautiful day dawned, after the storms of the past day and night.  I didn’t see anyone bail as a result of the storm.  We needed the rain to wash off the Captain, as the old man can get kinda stinky late in the season!  Lots going on… read all about it below.

Yo… In the middle of the night I heard the rumbling from far away.  Soon it was over the ranch, where I was camped.  A flash of lightning and a crash of thunder, along with torrential rain and gale force winds threatened to remove my camp from the ridge.  If it was this bad in the Valley, then climbers on ElCap would be in deep dodo.  Morning found the rain somewhat subsided but the wind still strong, as I made my way into the Valley.  In the café I talked it over with people who had been there at night and they said it was quite a storm.  I caught up on my report for yesterday and did some other computer stuff for most of the morning.  Around noon I made it down to ElCap, in a light drizzle, to check on everyone on the wall.  As is usually the case a small group of climbers had gathered to watch and speculate.  Read about it below…

Yo.. Today we had another great day for climbing and photography.  It was overcast all day and very cool too.  Lots of action to report on so let’s get right to it!!

Yo… Today was one of the best days for climbing and photos that I have ever seen in ANY Spring season! I took more than 200 shots, on this cool and cloudy day.  Lots of action up on the Captain now but no real crowding.

Yo… Today was a beautiful day for climbing with high clouds and cooler temperatures.  Lots of action on the cliff but spread among several routes.  Triple Direct seems to be getting the most action these days...or maybe Double Direct would be more like it.  DD is the top two thirds of the 3D.  The first third is jugging and hauling the fixed lines to Mammoth Terrace.  Anyway, no matter how you do it, ElCap is a worthy investment of your time.

Yo… Continued good weather is driving the season onward.  We had a nice set of clouds come through and keep the wall cool for most of the day.  The Big Three were sparsely populated but the bottom of the King is seeing some action.

Yo… Sunny and warm.. keep saying that and you have the weather for the next several days here in Yosemite. Still not a lot of action up on the Cap.  The Nose remains empty, with the exception of a few teams on the intro pitches to Sickle… no one went above Sickle today.  The Salathe/Freerider seems to be getting the attention these with three teams sending it over the last few days.  We did have a nice SIAD today… read about it all below!

Yo… The weather seems to have settled in at clear and warm.  A nice breeze made today bearable.  There was only one party on the Nose today and you will get to see what happened to them lower down.  The other routes are sparsely populated, if at all.

Yo.. Sunny and warm weather dominates the scene here in the Valley.  TER’s are arriving today from Korea… always a good time when they are here.  Lots of action on the cliff today with a nice NIAD thrown in for good luck.

Yo… It started out clear and hot but soon high clouds covered the sky and a nice breeze came up and life was bearable again!  The weekend traffic kept me from doing this report on time but here it is now.  Interesting action on the Cap today… read about it below.

Yo..  Still sunny and warm but not quite hot.  The Cap has parties scattered about but no route is really crowded.  Another weekend is upon us and like last weekend I may or may not be able to get a report out each day.  We are still awaiting news about the woman’s solo in a day attempt yesterday.

Yo… The beautiful, but warm, days have arrived.  Too hot really but if nothing else climbers are persistent and don’t let a little heat hold them back.  The traffic in the Valley is already back to weekend levels with few places to park.. so plan accordingly.  Bikes and the shuttle buses are the only way to get around after noon, from Friday to Monday.  Interesting climbing going on up on the hill.  Stay tuned for all the latest breaking news.

Yo.. The excellent weather continues to reinvigorate the spring climbing season.  Lots of action on the cliff today, so pay attention Cubicle Pukes.. there will be a test at the end of the report!  Brad and Jim did the Nose/Salathe yesterday in a total of 18 hours.. pretty good!

Yo… Excellent, warm, cloudless weather has arrived in Yosemite.  Too bad, as cloudy days make the best shots in the spring and keep the crews cool.  Some interesting action on the Captain today.. read all about it below.

Today’s ElCap Report…written just for you..unique in all the world!

Zodiac:  Craig is the new solo on the route and is moving along real well.  He climbed into the Circle and was at the Nipple pitch when I left.

ElCap Report 5/29/16

Yo…The weather continues to be great, until the late afternoon when thunder storms appear. The past few days the forecast has been spot on.  Clouds rolled in from the north this afternoon and a few droplets landed before I departed around 2:30 pm.  Since the holiday weekend is still on, I went straight to the Ranch, instead of dealing with the traffic.  Things should be better tomorrow!  Some big events are in the immediate future but reporting them in advance might jinx the plans.. so … stay tuned.
