ElCap Report 6/16/15

By Tom Evans

Yo.. Another excellent day in the Yosemite Valley.  But there climbers are few and far between.  So today’s report will be a bit short and if things don’t get better I will be doing a reduced number of reports but will cover things as well as I can.

Today’s ElCap Report..written just for you..unique in all the world!

1)  Zodiac:  The Korean Alpine Club team is back on the move after TER members replaced the water that was dropped yesterday.  Here their leader is starting up the pitch in the center of the Great White Circle before the sun came on them.

2)  Here is a wide shot of the bottom part of the Circle.

3)  The last man up, of the 5 team mates, has to jug a free hanging line.

4)  Over on the Trip, Matt took a day off to rest his wrists which had been bothering him the past couple of days.

5)  Sea of Dreams:  Here is a shot of Andy Kirkpatrick sawing off some angles before he blasted on the route.

6)  Andy starting the Groovy Arch pitch this morning.

In other news:  We await your arrival to make a noteworthy contribution to the scene here!

I had my 71st birthday today and couldn’t have had it in a better place!

So that’s the way it is, for this 16th day of June, 2015.

Happy Bday!

Best to you Tom!

Cutting pitons

Cutting hardened steel with a hack saw is tough work. Andy needs the right tool, an angle grinder with a cutoff disc. If I was closer, I'd offer to help. I bet Werner could fix him up.

Wow Happy Birthday Captain Tom

Wow, Happy Birthday, I think hanging with climbers every day is keeping you young ! I suspect you were doing exactly what you love to do most on your birthday, which is cool. I was stunned when you told me you climbed Leaning Tower in 1970, so now I guess it all makes sense. Thanks for your daily photos and updates, like the previous comment, I just love to see the report every day. Trina

Happy birthday captain

Looks like you had a good day mate. Wish I was there with Big Andy. Take care bud!

Ps: give Andy a monkey call from me!

Happy Birthday, Tom!

We enjoyed hanging out, even if our original plan didn't happen. Always fun to spend time at the Bridge and out in the Meadows. See you next time, Tom. -- Stanley

Breathtaking Respect

I am not a climber,I don't slack line,I don't base jump, and I am a terrible photographer ,but I am, a son,a brother,a father ,a husband ,a friend, and a fan of beauty , talent, and the love for one another. As a stick and ball team sportsman most of my life,I have learned many things that help me persevere in daily life. But every now and then I learn about a sport or an event that truly takes me to a different world. Since the day of being aware of this website I have not missed a post or photo. I want every man women and child that has ever tackled the breathtaking rocks of Yosemite to know how much I owe them for taking me each day in to a world that truly takes my breath away. The skills behind the lens you have my friend Mr. Evans and your knowledge of the sport has reached Rockstar status in my eyes. I want you all to know just how much I thank you for letting me share in your adventures.
