ElCap Report 6/10/07

 By Tom Evans

Yo... well you better not blink or you will miss the shortest report of the series... brought to you from Ricardo's BMW heading for home today back to the big city after a weekend in the Ditch for some fresh air and a little climbing... thanks R..

Zodiac.. saw the party of two do the nipple pitch today and heading up the mark of Zorro pitch when I left... seem to be in command of the situation.

ElCap tree route: Saw Kyle and friend working up the first pitch of that day climb up to the coolest tree on the Cap.. left too soon to see them at the tree..

The Ranch: Pete and Kate stopped by on the way to starting on that difficult route... time is no deterrent for these folks so it could be the subject of this report for some time to come...

Mescalito: 4 fixed and the word on the street is that tomorrow will see actual human beings on the route...

Nose: The orange bag team were seen climbing above camp 5 this morning and will most likely get off late... Dan and Scott were caught by my lens starting the last pitch at 4pm today and should be down tonight ... so don’t worry Elaine things are going to be ok... Filming blocked the stovelegs today as the crew of Linc Inc. finished up their project .. Heroes of the climbing, Hans and Steve stopped by to say hey before they went up for the glory shots.. The light was bad by the time they were in place so I didn’t get a shot of them today... nice stuff yesterday...

Jolly Roger: Three fixed pitches and Eric, Mike and Bill are soon to blast on this difficult route.. these guys are good so it should produce some nice shots..

Salathe/ Free Rider: Saw Jean and Anna starting the last pitch this morning late and they should be off by now... nice climbing girls... Ranon and Amee reached the top yesterday with Ranon sending the FR... sweet! They then rapped the entire route instead of going down the east ledges! They came by the Bridge on the way to the car. did see some haul bags a couple pitches above the spire belonging, I am told, to the Spanish team... saw another team at the spire in late morning...

In other news:  So that is it... pretty empty wall for this time of year and in this weather... Ranon and Nick are gone for the season now and Cedar is to soon follow... While there wasn’t much climbing to see today that didn’t deter the folks here from hanging around and having good conversation and food for most of the day... thanks to all for coming by and Erik and his friend Theron for keeping us fed after their climb of Electric Lady Land on the column..They did some nasty bolt replacements... the stuff they took off look really sick and they anchored off it before replacing what they could..
